Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need baking or decorating experience?
No experience necessary! But, if you are experienced and have questions or issues you’ve faced in your own journey with royal icing, please bring them (or even better, email me prior to class).
Age requirements?
Adults and teens over 13 are welcome to attend this class. Teens should be accompanied by an adult. Both people must purchase a ticket to attend.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely! Many people come to cookie class alone. It’s a wonderful solo date opportunity; plus many of our class participants make friends (numbers have been exchanged at our classes!).
What is the class schedule?
We’ll start class instruction promptly at 10:00am, working together to learn how to properly mix royal icing, develop color and mix the four main icing consistencies needed for cookie decorating: outline, flood, hybrid and floral (stiff). Around 11:30, we will break for a brief lunch provided by Eloise by Elevated Table, then resume at 12:00 to decorate 3 cookie designs, using the icing we previously prepared, for the last hour of class.
Do I need to bring anything?
All materials will be provided. You’ll receive a bakery box at the end of class to take your cookies home in. You will also receive a takeaway bag of some of my royal icing must-haves including: a sample of my favorite meringue powder, piping bags, a small spatula, and a cookie cutter to inspire your baking journey.
Do you provide refunds?
We do not provide refunds once a ticket is purchased, unless Butterfly Bakes has to cancel the class due to the class minimum of 8 participants not being met, or other unforeseen circumstances.
